With the Bellmore-Merrick Bulldogs’ hopes of winning their first-ever Nassau County hockey championship sitting on the end of his stick in overtime against No. 2 Long Beach on Feb. 26, Mepham High School junior Jon Olson scored perhaps the biggest goal of his Bulldogs’ career — and that’s saying something, minutes earlier he had scored the game-tying goal with just 1:22 remaining in the third period. more

Opportunity knocked for Mepham’s Emily Hagerty in the pentathlon at the State Qualifier Track and Field Meet at Freeport High School on May 28-29, and the junior took full advantage, winning the event by 25 points and qualifying for the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Championships in Middletown this Friday and Saturday. more

Mepham's Lady Pirates piling up goals

Mepham’s come out firing on the lacrosse field and notched a second straight win with a 16-10 win over Sewanhaka on April 2. The Lady Pirates (4-3 overall, 3-2 in conference play) have piled up 31 goals with junior Nicole Stackpole standing front-and-center in the recent scoring surge. She scored 10 times and added six assists in the two wins, but is just one of several key cogs on a team whose scoring has become as balanced as legal scales. more
