One specialty is the “Grandpa Bagel,” which includes egg salad, a smear of whitefish and sliced Nova lox. Another is the spring salad, so popular that it is still served in the fall. It features grapes, cherry tomatoes, broccoli, carrots, a touch of mayonnaise and sunflower seeds.

“My customers come from all over Long Island –– Oceanside, Freeport, Rockville Centre, as well as Syosset, Great Neck,” Asatur said.

“We keep quality products,” he added, including “a full smoked fish delicatessen. Smoked fish is our specialty. Nobody can slice like we do. Everybody is trained by me. There’s no quality of appetizing on Long Island like ours. The customers who can tell the difference, they’ll come back.” He learned his skills at Bagel Baron in Forest Hills, and still has customers from there.

Steve Pollack from Lawrence said he comes for breakfast every two weeks. “My favorite is the whitefish I take home. I love all ...the bialys and bagels. The whitefish is the best,” he said.

Scott Glassman of East Meadow said, “I grew up in Merrick, and this is the best bagel store in Nassau County.”

His young son Sam added, “I love this bagel store!”
