His proposal would bring the New York Islanders to the arena for six games per year, while also holding Nets practices, boxing, lacrosse, arena football, college basketball and minor league hockey.

The other two groups that had placed bids on the Coliseum were Syosset-based Blumenfeld Development Group and Bayville's New York Sports and Entertainment.

Blumenfeld Development, led by Ed Blumenfeld and his son David, were proposing to build a brand new arena while spending nearly $800 million.

Bernard Shereck of New York Sports and Entertainment was proposing a renovated interior, with a focus on family-oriented events.
