Hillary’s candidacy is all in the (classified) details

After two rounds of the Republican candidates for president trading blows, the Democrats faced off in their first 2016 primary debate. And one thing was clear: Hillary Clinton swept the floor with the other contenders, Sen. Bernie Sanders, Gov. Martin O’Malley, Sen. Jim Webb and Sen. Lincoln Chafee.

At one point during the debate, Hillary’s biggest challenger, Sanders, offered her political amnesty by exclaiming, “The American people are sick and tired of hearing about your damn emails!”

Senator Sanders, we appreciate your candor, and yes, you are correct, but this debate once again proved that the American people, both at the local and national level, are sick and tired of empty ideas, broken promises and being lied to by their elected officials.

The debate reiterated all the reasons why the American people are having a hard time believing Clinton: the Benghazi cover-up, her private email server and the damaging reports of Hillary and her husband selling out our nation’s national security for donations to the Clinton Foundation. These are real issues, not only of national security, but of trust.

On a local level, voters will select a new Nassau County district attorney next month — the county’s top law enforcement officer. As I pointed out last week, voters will choose between a true and proven leader, Kate Murray, and Madeline Singas, a seasoned attorney who has taken a shockingly weak stance on domestic violence and employs a sicko who terrorizes his wife.

It’s time for Singas to come clean about why Jeffrey Stein remains on the D.A.’s payroll. The people of Nassau County deserve the truth — and so, in the presidential election, do the American people.
