Kennedy students celebrate graduation

Cougar Nation had a lot to smile about last Sunday.

All of Bellmore-Merrick’s seniors celebrated their high school experiences while looking forward to the future at commencement exercises for Calhoun, Kennedy and Mepham on June 23. For the third straight year, the Bellmore-Merrick Central High School District held three separate graduation ceremonies at the NYCB Theater in Westbury, and officials said that each school had about 335 graduates.

Students from Kennedy, which serves south Merrick and Bellmore, celebrated graduation at 8 a.m. The honorees heard from a variety of speakers. Salutatorian Jordan Liebman and Eric Fegan, the class of 2013 valedictorian, delivered their commencement addresses.

In the audience, proud parents and family members snapped photos while whistling and cheering their daughters, sons, sisters and brothers as they crossed the stage to be presented with their diplomas. Outside, graduates and family members posed for more pictures. The Herald was there to catch the action.
