A disabled train in Valley Stream has shut down train service for the entire South Shore of Nassau County.

According to the Long Island Rail Road, service on the Babylon, Long Beach, Far Rockaway and West Hempstead branches is suspended in both directions.

The LIRR is suggesting that customers use the Ronkonkoma, Port Jefferson, Oyster Bay or Hempstead lines to get into New York City.

According to an LIRR spokesman, crews are working to move the train by connecting a diesel engine to it and towing it. However, the LIRR couldn't say when service would be restored.
