Lakeside PTA honors volunteers

The Levy-Lakeside Elementary School Parent-Teacher Association’s Founders’ Day celebration on March 23 paid tribute to school community members who give enormously of their time and energy to better the lives of Merrick children.

Founders’ Day is a nationally recognized school holiday that recognizes the integral role that PTA members play in schools across America.

At Lakeside, a ceremony honored Catherine Filippi, a teacher aide; Jon Flick, a third-grade teacher; Jennifer Gargan, a second-grade teacher; Elisa Kandel, a parent; Terri Cohen-Lieberman, PTA co-president; and Linda Wilk, PTA co-president. Dozens of parents, teachers, administrators and students attended.

“It was a wonderful event, sharing the honor with many deserving staff and PTA members,” Wilk said.

Al Belbol Jr., Barbra Klein and Gayle Rosen organized the event.
