Leading, now leaving, Chatterton School

Davidowitz said she takes pride in having led the Chatterton community, and is humble when speaking about her role, frequently thanking her husband, her family and the Chatterton staff for their support.

When she enters a classroom, the students immediately welcome her as a frequent visitor. They are eager to share lessons with her, and she listens carefully. “Mrs. Davidowitz has been a wonderful principal to work for,” said first-grade teacher Lindsay Struss. “She provides endless support to both her staff and students. She works tirelessly to make sure that the school is a wonderful place. She will truly be missed by all.”

Struss’s first-graders were also enthusiastic about their principal, describing her as helpful and kind. “She cares about everyone,” said Michael Jerozal. “She talks really nice to us.”

“She always helps people,” said Emma Ogle, another member of Struss’s class. “When somebody bullies someone else, they go to the principal, and she takes care of it.”

Davidowitz said she values her relationships with the students, teachers, assistant principal and her administrative assistants, Holly Collins and Susan O’Keefe, both of whom described her as smart, diplomatic and patient. “She’s just fabulous,” said Collins, explaining that “fabulous” is Davidowitz’s favorite word. “She always does what’s right for the kids.”

“In all my years, every person that I have met and the hundreds of children — thousands of children — have left a footprint on my heart,” said Davidowitz. “I’ll miss them dearly.”
