The Democratic caucus will have boxed us into a desperate situation. I urge Abrahams and the Democratic minority to urgently reconsider their dangerous course. Tell them to stop playing political games with our quality of life, environment and safety. They must vote to fully fund this critical infrastructure without further delay.

A invitation to rally

To the Editor:
On behalf of The11518, I wanted to thank you for the coverage last week of our upcoming Aug. 31 rally at the Kevin E. McNulty Park in East Rockaway (“Rallying to help storm victims”). We truly appreciated the article.

We are a civic organization made up of East Rockaway and Bay Park residents who organized in the wake of the terrible destruction caused by Hurricane Sandy some 10 months ago. Our goal for this rally is simply raise awareness that residents in our community still need help.

Many neighbors are still not back in their homes, our schools suffered tremendous damage, and we listen to the hum of the Bay Park Sewage Plant generators every single day. We have partnered with Friends of Long Island to share and pass on information. We plan to be in this for the long haul — or at least until the last resident is able to come home to a habitable residence.

On Saturday. from noon to 2 p.m., we hope to project this message of awareness and understanding that our fellow residents are still suffering and still need help. We hope to see you there!
