Merrick Avenue Middle School held its Moving-Up Day ceremonies on June 7 to celebrate the graduation of its eighth-grade class of 2013. Hundreds of students, decked out in formal wear, and their proud parents attended the ceremonies, at which students were called one by one to the auditorium’s stage to be recognized for their academic achievements.
The students participated in one of four ceremonies, at 8 a.m., 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. Select teachers, administrators, and students read prepared remarks, and student music groups gave performances before the students graduates turns walking across the stage.
