North Merrick prepares to elect fire commissioner

North Merrick residents will have the chance to vote in their fire commissioner’s election next week.

David Ward, district clerk for the North Merrick Fire Department, said this year’s race is uncontested. Paul Wilders, a former department chief, will be up for election on Tuesday, Dec. 11.

Residents will be able to vote in the election at the North Merrick Fire Department, at 2095 Camp Ave., from 2 to 9 p.m.

The North Merrick Fire District encompasses 2.5 square miles, according to its website.
