Yes, it’s true! Snow once again blanketed the Bellmore-Merrick community on Thursday, making driving conditions hazardous. As of 8 a.m., roads had been partially plowed, sanded and salted. Town of Hempstead trucks were seen on local roads cleaning up ice- and snow-covered roads, but the job had only just begun.

The National Weather Service was predicting heavy snow for the area throughout the day and into the evening. According to the service, there was a 60 percent that snow would continue to fall into the night.

As of 10 a.m. on Thursday, the temperature was 27 degrees Fahrenheit, but was expected to drop into the teens later in the day.

All Bellmore-Merrick area school districts were closed owing to the weather.
