Painting the town strawberry red in North Bellmore

A Ferris wheel, the “Riptide” and other neon-lit carnival rides shined across the North Bellmore sky last weekend, attracting hundreds to the Nassau County Strawberry Festival.

The annual fair was held at the Jerusalem Avenue School from May 30 to June 2. The Kiwanis Club of Bellmore and the Bellmore Lions Club sponsored the event.

Members of each organization sold strawberries, baked goods and non-alcoholic daiquiris in the big tent on the back field, with the proceeds going to help those in need throughout the community and across Long Island.

Families, teenagers and people from across the county came for the sweet treats before going off to explore the rest of the festival. Attendees enjoyed rides and games provided by Blue Sky Amusements, sampled carnival foods like corndogs and funnel cakes, watched musical groups perform, and perused the craft and gift show.
