Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes
Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes bring their mighty mix of R&B and heartland rock to the area, letting it all hang out. Emerging from the Jersey Shore following Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Lyon continues to roll through four decades of gritty, blues-rock hits, and of course 1976’s “I Don’t Want To Go Home.” The iconic band is in high gear, following the release of “Soultime!” in September 2015, their first new studio CD of all original material in five years. The CD celebrates the transformative power of ‘70s soul music, representing a return to — as Southside will share with their audience — “just letting the music take us away.”
Saturday, July 9, at 8 p.m. $49.50, $39.50, $29.50, $20 and $14.50. The Paramount, 370 New York Ave., Huntington. (800) 745-3000 or www.ticketmaster.com or www.pararmountny.com.

Family Fun

Back in the Saddle
A bit of the Wild West returns to Old Bethpage Village with a glimpse of those days when cowboys were king. Experience the excitement of that long ago era as these modern-day “cowboys” show off their skills in a horse mounted shooting competition. Witness this fast action event in which the cowboys with single action revolvers are scored on accuracy and time. Mounted contestants compete to see who has the best shot, using two .45 caliber revolvers each loaded with five rounds of specially prepared ammunition. Riders must be in full costume — chaps, suspenders, boots, and, of course, cowboy hats — in order to compete. They’ll return next month, and in again in October and November.
Sunday, July 10, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. $10, $7 children 4-14 and seniors. Old Bethpage Village Restoration, Round Swamp Rd., Old Bethpage. (516) 572-8400.
