Herald covers 4th annual DogCatemy Awards

Posted

The Herald was there for North Shore Animal League America's 4th annual DogCatemy Celebrity Gala in the Cipriani Wall Street grand ballroom in Manhattan on November 5, presented by Purina ONE. Beautiful and famous two and four-legged celebrities walked the green carpet, smiling and barking for the cameras. Island Park's own tatooed animal activists "Rescue Ink" also attended.

More than 450 animal supporters -- many of the celebrities and some in the company of their beloved (and well-behaved) pets -- enjoyed cocktails, dinner and a presentation of the videos, created by the celebrities themselves, and starring their faithful felines and canines. The categories included "Best Pawformance," "Best Dogumentary" and "Best Tail-Waggin’ Comedy." The winners each went home with their own "DogCatemy" award.

S-Curve Record's recording artist Diane Birch performed at the gala. Lomax & Delta, The Hound of Music, put on puppet show for the black-tie audience. The Green Carpet event featured a picturesque dog park theme, showcasing larger-than-life American Dog sculptures created by metal sculptor Dale Rogers. Proceeds of the sale of these custom-made, limited-edition sculptures will benefit the Animal League.

"Tonight's gala is only possible due to your kindness, generosity, and belief in our mission," said Animal League President J. John Stevenson in his speech the crowd. All proceeds from this event support North Shore Animal League America's mission of rescuing pets throughout the world and placing them in loving homes.
