Two teens charged with attempted robbery

Two teenagers were arrested on Sept. 29 and charged with an attempted robbery in front of Fayette Elementary School in North Merrick, according to authorities.

Nassau County Police allege that the two teens, a 16-year-old and a 15-year-old, approached a 17-year-old male at 11:35 p.m. outside Fayette, which is on Merrick Avenue north of the Southern State Parkway, and demanded his possessions.

Police officers observed the incident, and the two teenagers ran off when the officers began to approach. They were apprehended a short time later on Merrick Avenue and placed under arrest. No injuries were reported, and nothing was stolen. Both teens were charged with attempted robbery.
