Two teens charged with attempted robbery

Two teenagers were arrested on Sept. 29 and charged with an attempted robbery in front of Fayette Elementary School in North Merrick, according to authorities.

Nassau County Police allege that Matthew Bezman, 16, and an unnamed 15-year-old male approached a 17-year-old male at 11:35 p.m. outside Fayette, which is on Merrick Avenue north of the Southern State Parkway, and demanded his possessions.

Police officers observed the incident, and the two teenagers ran off when the officers began to approach. They were apprehended a short time later on Merrick Avenue and placed under arrest. No injuries were reported, and nothing was stolen.

Bezman, of East Meadow, was charged with attempted robbery and was arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead.

The name of the 15-year-old suspect was not revealed because he is considered a juvenile. He was also charged with attempted robbery, but will appear for arraignment in Family Court on Oct. 10.
