School districts delay start, cancel classes because of winter storm

The overnight storm from Sunday night into Monday morning may have dropped less snow than expected — two to four inches as compared to the predicted four to eight — but school districts across Nassau County delayed school or canceled classes altogether nevertheless.

Here's a rundown of what districts from across the Heralds' coverage area did, according to their websites:

• Baldwin: Two-hour delay.

• Bellmore-Merrick: Two-hour delay.

• East Meadow: Nothing on website. Check with district.

• East Rockaway: Delayed start. Classes begin at 10 a.m.

• Elmont: Closed.

• Lawrence: Two-hour delay.

• Hewlett-Woodmere: Two-hour delay.

• Franklin Square: Closed.

• Freeport: Two-hour delay.

• Glen Cove: Two-hour delay.

• Island Park: Two-hour delay.

• Long Beach: Two-hour delay.

• Oceanside: Two-hour delay.
