A rendering of Port Meridian, a liquid natural gas terminal that a West Face Capital Inc. subsidiary plans to build in the East Irish Sea. Another West Face subsidiary, Liberty Natural Gas, LLC, is seeking approval to build a similar LNG terminal off the South Shore named Port Ambrose. Environmental groups fear that Port Ambrose could be used for LNG exports to Port Meridian.

What's Port Ambrose really all about?

In November 2004, Jordan Cove Energy Project, L.P. filed a notice of intent to build a liquefied natural gas import facility at the Oregon International Port of Coos Bay, and the application began winding through Oregon and federal agencies that had to approve it before building could begin, a process that continues today. more

Liquid natural gas hearing turns heated

A private company controlled by a multi-billion-dollar Canadian hedge fund is seeking approval to build a liquefied natural gas station in the Atlantic Ocean 17 nautical miles southeast of Jones Beach. If built, a pipeline extending from the station would have to hook up to an existing pipeline 2.2 miles south of Atlantic Beach. more
