Possibly the newest getaway destination in its region, Catskill Mountains Resort offers much to enjoy during any season. Not only are there activities abound, both onsite and in surrounding areas, but the actual lodging choices will satisfy all tastes and desires. Choose a private courtyard room near bench swings and fire pits, a quaint mansion room in the main house, or a cozy rustic cabin that can house a whole family. And, amidst the woodsy mountainous backdrop, you’ll have amenities such as a flat screen TV and wireless Internet.

The Barryville site originally housed Sokol Woodlands, a gymnastics camp for girls. William Zaccari, a former emergency medical technician for the FDNY, who had grown up nearby, loved that particular property, which happened to be on the market. So, three years ago, Zaccari, his wife, Gina, and their partner, Larry Rosner, purchased the site. Building a resort on that land was a labor of love, William manned the construction while Gina decorated. The main house was totally gutted and everything was renovated. Catskill Mountains Resort officially opened in December 2015.

Depending on the season, events and activities can differ. One constant, though, are the dining options and entertainment. Featuring Chef Pascal Bettig, who was born in France and has cooked in fine restaurants throughout Europe and Manhattan, Mountainside Restaurant serves American French Fusion cuisine and unique dessert creations. Zac’s Wilderness Lounge is more casual, offering a festive bar, gourmet pizza, burgers and snacks. Here is where you can enjoy live bands, DJs and karaoke, and dance the night away.

During the summer, swim in the large heated outdoor pool from morning to midnight. Onsite are an arcade, hiking trails, biking, and side-by-side vehicles one can ride in the woods. Snow mobiles will be arriving soon. Nearby, within a half-hour, are concerts at Bethel (remember Woodstock?), Monticello Casino & Raceway, ski areas, fishing, hunting, tubing, horseback riding and more. All rooms include a continental breakfast. The resort has its own shuttle bus for transportation to and from various locations.

A current all-inclusive package is Ski & Stay — luxury accommodations, hot breakfast, dinner at Mountainside Restaurant, shuttle service, and a day on the slopes at Big Bear with lift tickets. The Romantic Getaway Package gives you two nights at the resort, dinner for two and a bottle of champagne in your room. Stay & Play includes two-night lodging, a day of fun at the casino in Monticello, and dinner for two at the resort’s restaurant.
