And they’re off!
Last weekend, South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside held its 21st Annual Communities for a Cure 5K Run/ Walk and Multi-Cultural Health Fair. The walk/run was held on the hospital grounds and raised money for South Nassau’s Breast/GYN Health and the Gertrude & Louis Feil Cancer Center. The race kicked off at 8:30 a.m. with a kid’s fun run, followed by the 5K race at 9 a.m. Oceanside resident Ilan Hausner finished first overall, and Long Beach resident Carina Ferry was the first woman to finish. While the runners were on the street, everyone had a chance to check out the Multi-Cultural Health Fair, which had many booths and gave visitors a chance for free, simple health screenings, including blood pressure and cholesterol screenings, prostate screenings and fall risk assessments.
