Drunk driver with baby in backseat

Nassau County Police found arrested a West Hempstead man for drunk driving in Oceanside and found he had his one-month old son in the backseat.

According to police, on May 16 at 10:45 p.m. Andres Collado, 27, was driving a 2004 Nissan Sentra when he rear ended a 2008 Jeep that was attempting to make a left turn on Long Beach Road in Oceanside. The police found that Collado’s one-month old son was in the back seat, and that he had glassy, red blood shot eyes, blurred speech and a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath.

Collado was arrested and the child was released to his mother.

It was also determined that Collado had open Nassau County Warrants for Criminal Contempt first degree, Harassment and Violation of Probation. He is being charged under Leandra’s Law. He was arraigned on May 17 at First District Court in Hempstead.
