Suzan Grossman-Kerner, 56, was indicted for the murder of her mother, Irma Grossman, 79, in Nassau County Supreme Court.

Grossman-Kerner is accused of murdering her mother this August at her on Terrell Avenue in Oceanside.

Grossman-Kerner of Oceanside, was arraigned on Nov. 20 in front of Acting Supreme Court Justice Meryl Berkowitz on grand jury indictment charges of second-degree Murder in the second degree, and fourth-degree Criminal Possession of a Weapon, which are respectively a violent felony and a class A misdemeanor.

Grossman-Kerner faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison if she is convicted for murder. She was remanded and is due back in court on Feb. 2.

“Irma Grossman allegedly died at the hands of her own daughter, who now faces serious charges in this tragic case,” Acting District Attorney Madeline Singas said. “Thanks to the hard work of the Nassau County Police Department, a suspect was arrested very quickly after this heinous crime.”

Singas said that on Aug. 17 at about 12:45 p.m., Grossman’s neighbors heard a commotion coming from inside her Terrell Avenue home in Oceanside and observed the defendant outside the house. Police responded to the home and found Grossman, 79, with multiple stab wounds in her neck and head. She was transported to South Nassau Communities Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 2:55 p.m.

Nassau County Police Department officers discovered a kitchen knife in the Grossman-Kerner’s car, which was parked in front of the victim’s home, with what appeared to be blood on the blade. After a short investigation, NCPD Homicide Detectives arrested her.

Assistant District Attorney Michael Walsh of the Major Offense Bureau is prosecuting the case. Todd Greenberg, Esq, represents Grossman-Kerner.

The charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless found guilty.
