Peter White
Guitarist Peter White brings his jazz fusion vibe to the Madison Theatre for a dynamic concert that demonstrates his continued acclaim as one of the most versatile and prolific acoustic musicians on the contemporary jazz landscape. In an era ruled by the electric guitar, British-born, L.A.-based White reigns supreme as one the world’s greatest masters of the nylon-string acoustic guitar. Armed with an unparalleled combination of lyricism and energy, he continues to receive accolades for creating a sound that is singular and at the same time accessible to a broad audience, combining elements of jazz, pop and classical guitar. White released his 14th solo album, “Smile” last fall.
Saturday, April 25, 8 p.m. $50-$65. Madison Theatre, Molloy College, 1000 Hempstead Ave., Rockville Centre. (516) 323-4444 or www.madisontheatreny.org.

Guitar Show & Expo

Strumming Along
The great Les Paul is honored with a special tribute at this year’s New York Guitar Show. The annual showcase of new and used instruments, vintage guitars, accessories and memorabilia celebrates what would have been Les Paul’s 100th birthday, featuring several of his longtime friends and bandmates. The legendary Lou Pallo of the Les Paul Trio, close friends Jim Wysocki and Clayton Munsey, along with Robb Lawrence, the author of “The Early Years of the Les Paul Legacy” and “The Modern Era of the Les Paul Legacy,” will be on hand to share stories and remembrances. Pallo, who was Paul’s right hand man for 30 years, also performs. And those who are so inclined can also do a bit of impromptu playing on of Paul’s own guitars.
Saturday April 25, 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m.; Sunday April 26, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Freeport Recreation Center, 130 E. Merrick Rd., Freeport. (516) 435-8382 or  www.nyguitarexpo.com.
