The Oceanside Library announced some changes on its board of directors, including the retirement of longtime director Evelyn Rothschild, last week.

Rothschild, who has worked for the library for 31 years, including the last 15 as director, announced that she is retiring in January. She was credited for her dedication to the library and to the community, and for steering the library through financial hardships following Superstorm Sandy.

The board has begun a search for a new library director.

The board also has a new trustee, Mary DiGiovanna, after the resignation of Cathy Dapolito due to personal reasons. In accordance with the library’s bylaws, the board asked DiGiovanna to fill the vacancy created by Dapolito’s resignation. Her term will expire in the last week of May.

DiGiovanna has a BA in Marketing and an MBA in Finance. After a career as a Convertible Arbitrage Trader, she raised five children here in Oceanside, with her husband Frank. Mary has held numerous PTA and SEPTA positions of leadership, including as President of the School #5 and Oceanside High School’s PTA’s. She currently is the President of the Oceanside High School Football Parents Association. She was sworn in as trustee on Sept. 23. She joined a board that consists of president Dan Faust, vice president Angela Iovino, and trustees Ellen Sullivan, Florence Mensch, Wayne Vurture and Michael D’Ambrosio Jr.
