Two businesses celebrated their ribbon cuttings on Feb. 18, as the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce and Town of Hempstead officials welcomed Sands Point Physical Therapy and Breathe N Flow Yoga to the area.
The new yoga studio — at 2882 Long Beach Road — also has a location in Freeport, where it has resided since 2010. Owner Leah Hartofelis said she decided to branch out to Oceanside, her hometown, where she already donates her time teaching yoga at local elementary schools.
In addition to offering a wide variety of classes for residents of all ages, the stand-alone yoga studios, Hartofelis said, are registered yoga schools that train students to become teachers. She added that Breathe N Flow has a unique prenatal yoga program — called BNF Yoga Mamas — which caters to pregnant mothers.
“Yoga brings us back to our natural state of relaxation and happiness,” Hartofelis said, “and I think everyone can benefit from a mindful practice and being healthy mentally and physically.”
Sands Point Physical Therapy — at 2965 Long Beach Road — also opened its second location, previously only serving patients in Rockaway Park.
The business focuses on therapeutic exercise and neuromuscular retraining to correct the cause of pain. For those suffering from severe acute pain, the center offers electric stimulation, ultrasound, massage, anodyne therapy, soft tissue and joint mobilization, among other services.
