A new program at Quinnipiac University gave students the opportunity this summer to work at some of Los Angeles’ most prestigious companies. Jessica Salem, a public relations major from Oceanside, was one of 14 students to take advantage of all that Los Angeles had to offer this summer as members of the Quinnipiac in Los Angeles program’s charter class.

Quinnipiac in Los Angeles is a year-round program for the university’s undergraduate and graduate students that incorporates an internship and coursework while living in Los Angeles.

“I helped coordinate parties and made sure everything ran smoothly,” said Salem, who is interning with Crown Media Family Networks. “I reached out to the media and ensured that they received the press materials we sent over. I loved spending the summer in Los Angeles. I want to move here once I graduate.”

Students from the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Business and Engineering and the School of Communications participated this summer, interning at businesses such as Coldwell Banker, Conan, Nickelodeon, the Television Academy and Warner Bros.

A new crop of students will participate in QU in LA beginning Aug. 23.

Quinnipiac is a private, coeducational, nonsectarian institution located 90 minutes north of New York City and two hours from Boston. The university enrolls 6,500 full-time undergraduate and 2,500 graduate students in 58 undergraduate and more than 20 graduate programs of study.
