Seasonal Delights

Jazzed up at Nassau Museum
Joe Dubs and The Jazz Connection, Nassau County Museum of Art’s very own house band, shares some tunes at a series of concerts, beginning this weekend. The ensemble celebrates the timeless music of great American composers, including Gershwin, Porter, Kern, and Ellington, among others, in the upstairs gallery. Besides playing traditional swing and jazz of the ‘30s, ‘40s and ‘50s, the dynamic band also slides into the Bop world of Charlie Parker, Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis as well as the unique rhythms of Antonio Carlos Jobim. It’s a lively accompaniment to NCMA’s recently opened exhibit, “The Moderns.”
Sunday, Aug. 2, 3 p.m.; also Aug. 16 and 30. Free with museum admission. Nassau County Museum of Art, One Museum Dr. (off Northern Blvd.), Roslyn Harbor. (516) 484-9337 or www.nassaumuseum.com.
