70 North Village Ave., Rockville Centre
While Valenti Pharmacy is new to Rockville Centre, its owner/pharmacist, Anthony Valenti, brings more than 30 years of industry expertise. He grew up in Queens, attended St. John’s University, and worked his way from the ground up in private pharmacies. He is passionate about the business and giving back to the community, and now has the opportunity to offer Rockville Centre his very best.
His unique drugstore offers both traditional therapies (over-the-counter medicines and Rx/prescriptions) as well as natural alternatives — homeopathic remedies, herbs, oils, etc. Some products can even be used simultaneously. Valenti routinely does a comprehensive profile on each client, checking for changes and compatibility in the medications they take, and if necessary, calling practitioners with any concerns. He also offers compounding — preparing personalized medications, topical creams, syrups and powders — a service often essential for small children, the elderly and pets.
Unlike larger drugstores, Valenti Pharmacy has a cozy feel. The entire Valenti family gets involved. There’s a couch up front, and the entire store is rendered in wood. Traditional products lie house wares, paper goods, health and beauty items, vitamins and minerals, can all be found. But rather than an endless array of brands, Anthony says he carries “six of the best and what people want most.” They also offer durable medical equipment like walkers, canes, commodes and wheelchairs.
On the alternative end, Valenti stocks the most popular Young Living Pure Essential Oils, and some locally produced handmade products. Shown are soy-based candles, healing stones, body scrubs, and hand-made natural soaps that include actual flowers. There are greeting cards, inspirational mugs, costume jewelry and cute wooden signs. Customized gift baskets can be ordered too.
He strongly believes that the public should be informed. “Educate people ... they will be smarter and healthier,” Valenti said. “Education is the best medicine.” He does lots of public speaking, reaching out to clinics, senior citizen centers and schools. He’s been involved with the Drug Take Back event held by the Rockville Centre Police Department, where people can safely dispose of unused and/or expired medication into a drop box. In addition, Valenti makes himself available when he can for emergencies, even after business hours.
Valenti Pharmacy is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
