I went down to the NYS Rising truck this weekend. Good News is NYS rising will cover non-reimbursed expenses for folks damaged by Sandy.

Bad news, all the applications folks filed, no one is even assigned to look at them. Guess what no funding yet for folks to review files and no case workers.

Ok folks so you are getting money. That is true. If you own the home and are current with taxes by the time grant money comes you are good. BTW that is several years from now. Remember Tropical Storm Lee before Irene where houses had a big mudslide up by Hunter mountain several years ago, well they are still waiting.

Then the list starts in "income" priority and runs till money runs out. Guess they need to take care of them first, then Lee and Irene folks next, then folks with no flood insurance then folks with flood insurance oh yea add in it also goes in application order, so if you have not yet applied you are back of line.

So bottom line go and apply, but unless you have direct storm damage you can prove was not reimbursed by FEMA or Flood and plan on live in house over 5 years good luck. Also If you did not have FEMA pay out over 31,900 or have a SBA appraisal for stuff not covered by flood it gets even harder.
