While I read your Op-Ed piece I was struck by your rather casual attitude towards the demise of an unborn life. Unborn, yet nevertheless, a life. No where in your piece do you promote, edify, mention or advocate the use of contraceptives as a means of pregnancy prevention. While I agree, there may be extenuating circumstances for the case of abortion, they are far and few between. And no, Ms. Kreiss, we all don't know someone who was a victim of a botched abortion. You may, but I don't, not do any of my acquaintances. You talk about this not being a political issue but a personal issue, yet you point fingers at George Bush, predominantly Republican anti-abortion forces, Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachman, etc. Is this a political matter for you or a personal one? Which, Ms. Kreiss. You insist that the government stay out of it, yet you continue to interject and lace your article with political barbs.

There is something inherently wrong with a society who feels comfortable with killing their progeny, something very wrong. Abortions cannot be a means of birth control and since you do not allude to any other form thereof, I would have to assume that you believe it to be a form of the same.

I also find it interesting that you state "abortion should be between a woman and her doctor" and not in the legal arena. On that point, I couldn't agree with you more, yet the Affordable Health Care Act will now intervene on every level of our health care, but it's "hands off" our abortions? It doesn't work that way Ms. Kreiss. Since the government will now be deciding whether or not we can have a knee replacement, it only seems fair that abortion remain in our legislature as well. Whether it's fighting for it or against it, is should not protected and should be subject to all the same rules and regulations as all heath care. You talk about "anti-choice" legislators poking their noses into exam rooms around the country. Really? Well then, please tell me what has Obamacare done? The very same thing Ms. Kreiss, the very same thing.

Again, I am disturbed, to say the least, about a society who so freely and without sorrow, guilt, or compassion, that kills their unborn.
