Many owners brought their pets to St. Agnes to be blessed.
A blessing for every animal
Penny Frondelli/Herald
Pat Lichtman brought her Goffin Cockatoo Samantha to St. Agnes to be blessed.

Last week, St. Agnes Cathedral held its annual blessing of the animals.

People from Rockville Centre and surrounding areas came to the cathedral to have their pets — furry, feathered and more — blessed.

The blessing is held to honor St. Francis of Assisi, who famously loved all animals. The blessing was held on Oct. 4, which is the feast day for St. Francis.
