On Wednesday, July 23 at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, American Idol will hold the “producer’s round” of auditions, where Idol hopefuls, ages 15 to 28, are welcome to share their talent and sing their way to celebrity judges Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr. and Keith Urban.

Robert Mcleod, a supervising producer at Idol for four consecutive seasons, shared with the Herald some of the "do’s and don’t’s" for those wishing to audition.

“Don’t let nerves get to you,” he advised. “Do come in with a good attitude, and let your personality shine. Do pretend you're singing on stage in front of Jen, Keith and Harry.”

Mcleod recommends all contestants and their friends and families to bring plenty of water, as line-up will take place outside the Coliseum.

Registration for auditions will begin at 6 a.m.
