Blue takes the gold at 99th Red and Blue

The Blue Team carried the night at the 99th annual Red and Blue competition, wowing audiences and judges with their performances and skills.

The three days of competition began on Thursday with Song Night and emblem and poster reveals. It continued on Friday and Saturday nights, where the girls competed in many different events, including relays, skits, dances, volleyball, tumbling, tug-of-war and many more.

At the end of the night on Saturday, Blue Team had won they day, securing another BTV with a score of 43 to 36. Blue was trailing Red 36 to 33, until it was announced that the team had won the Sportsmanship category — the highest scoring category — getting themselves 10 more points and the win.

Red and Blue has been a tradition at South Side High School for nearly 100 years. It gives the girls of the school a chance to express themselves, make new friends and show off their talents.
