Businesses coming and going in RVC

As a new year starts, the business landscape in the village is changing.

Among the stores that are closing are Sylvia's Corset Shop, a long time institution on Merrick Road; the House of Style, also on Merrick, and the Squirrel's Nest on Brower Avenue. Salon Tikka is also gone — it moved back to Hewlett, its original home. And Reflections on Sunrise Highway is also departing, but it will be replaced by Bordeaux, a new wine lounge.

The building on the corner of Merrick Road and Morris Avenue that once housed the long-gone Super Chinese Buffet is undergoing a transformation — a new paper and party supplies shop is coming in. Also under construction is the former site of Brennan and Carr's on N. Village Avenue — a Cuban restaurant is getting ready to set up shop there. And back on Merrick Road, Madison Hall has been replaced by McFaddens.

Better Home Health Care relocated from N. Park Avenue to Merrick Road. The Underground hair salon moved to a larger location on the same street — Seaman Avenue. And Wild Ginger, an Asian fusion restaurant, is now open on Sunrise Highway.
