Cesspool swallows car in Rockville Centre
A collapsing cesspool swallowed up a car in Rockville Centre early in the afternoon on Friday, Feb. 21.
According to police, a resident on Driscoll Avenue got into her car and then the ground collapsed under it, dropping the car into an empty cesspool on the edge of the property that was never filled in.
Police said that the resident, an elderly woman, was trapped in the car but unhurt. She was rescued by Rockville Centre Fire Chief John Thorp.
