Fouad Elmaria

According to Nassau County police, officers on patrol noticed that the price posted on the large overhead sign at the USA Gas Station at 1616 Dutch Broadway, Elmont, read $3.83 per gallon, but the pump showed and charged $4.59 per gallon.

The owner, Fouad Elmaria, 74, of 217 Lincoln Ave., Rockville Centre, was told to make the proper changes Saturday, but when the officer, along with a supervisor, returned several hours later to find the corrections were not made, the owner was arrested.

Elmaria is charged with defraud and false advertising and was released on a Nassau County Appearance Ticket that was returnable to First District Court, Hempstead on Nov. 14.
