Is RVC snobby?

Website says we’re third-snobbiest town in New York

According to a recently released list, Rockville Centre is a town of silver spoons and upturned noses.

On the website RoadSnacks’ list of the 10 snobbiest towns in New York, the village came in third, behind Garden City and Huntington. The site claims that the ranking is based on data including median home price, household income, percentage of the population with a college degree and the number of private schools, theaters and art galleries per capita.

Seven of the top 10 communities on the list are Long Island towns. Rockville Centre rated higher than communities like Massapequa, Melville and Merrick.

“The criteria for this list included household income, home values and education,” said Mayor Francis X. Murray. “The fact that our village scored high in all these areas doesn’t make us snobs, but rather one of the most desirable communities to live, work and raise a family.”

RoadSnacks bills itself as an “infotainment” website. “Our goal is to show you the real side of places that not everyone wants to hear,” the site’s description reads. “We use data to create bite-sized snacks of shareable information about places and cities across the country.”

The website has also compiled a list of the worst places to live in New York. Rockville Centre didn’t make that one.
