Just a small taste of Rockville Centre

Last week, the Rockville Centre Saint Patrick’s Parade Committee held its 9th Annual Taste of Rockville Centre fundraising event.

Restaurants from all over the village came out to the St. Agnes Parish Center to showcase their talents and menus, cooking up and serving samples of their signature dishes for the many people who came out to eat their way around the village.

In its first 16 years, the parade has donated $718,000 to 48 separate charities. At the event, the committe raised nearly $15,000.

All of the money raised is supporting the parade, which picks three charities to donate to every year. This year, the charities are The Jillian E. Daly Foundation, the Greater New York Chapter of the ALS Association, and Crosscare.

The Jillian E. Daly Foundation was founded by the Daly family of Rockville Centre in memory of their daughter, who died in 2010 at the age of 24 from an autoimmune disorder known as warm hemolytic anemia. The foundation funds research into autoimmune disorders.
