Molloy College administrator back in classroom

For the last 18 years, Rockville Centre resident Dr. Valerie Collins served as vice president for academic affairs and dean of faculty at Molloy College. Effective June 1 Collins officially transitioned from a leadership role to her original role of college professor. Following a sabbatical, she will return to the classroom as a faculty member teaching at the college’s Barbara H. Hagan School of Nursing.

“One of the great things about serving as Academic Vice President is that it provided so many opportunities — often behind the scenes — to work with faculty, staff and administrators to strengthen the curriculum for our students, build new programs and move into new venues of service with initiatives such as the Education Division’s  TESOL outreach,  the Barbara H. Hagan School of Nursing activities, Molloy’s Cap 21 theatre program, global studies and  service learning programs, the new Clinical Mental Health program, the Digital Humanities Program awaiting state approval, as well as the Rebecca Center, Speech Clinic and so much more,“ Collins wrote in an email sent to the Molloy community. “It has been a privilege to be part of a community focused on making a Molloy education the very best it can be for our students. Rose Kennedy summed it up well when she said, ‘Life isn’t a matter of milestones, but of moments.’”
