Jamie Morrison has replaced John Duenges who retired as the executive director of the Rockville Centre Housing Authority on April 13.

Morrison, 59, worked for 15 years at the Hempstead Housing Authority, four years as a service coordinator, four years as the Section 8 manager and seven years as its executive director.

He is also a Christian minister and taught fifth grade at P.S. 3 in Brooklyn for six years. His educational background includes a master’s degree in Christian Education and a bachelor’s degree in Sociology,

Religion and Philosophy.

Morrison envisions his job with his own distinct goals and objectives, and says he hopes to use his unique expertise to continue the overall plan to make the West End community “second to none,’ and to provide decent and safe housing for all residents of Rockville Manor and Rockville Apartments, which the Housing Authority oversees.

Duenges served as executive director of the Housing Authority from January 1996 until his recent retirement.

“He made a positive difference in the lives of many families,” said Housing Authority Board Chairman Gary Kondor. “He will be missed.”
