Honk!
Hans Christian Anderson’s beloved tale “The Ugly Duckling” takes on new life as the musical “Honk!,” presented by Nassau Community College’s Department of Theatre and Dance. This charming production tells the story of an odd-looking baby duck, Ugly, and his quest to find his mother. Soon after Ugly is born, he is seduced away by a wily Cat who wants to eat Ugly for dinner. Eventually, Ugly manages to escape, but he has no idea how to return home. He embarks on an adventure, fueled by his determination, and encounters several other barnyard characters. “Honk!”  incorporates a message of tolerance and self-discovery, as Ugly meets a whole flock of unique characters along the way and finds out being different is not a bad thing to be.
Friday, Dec. 2, 7 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 3-4, 2 p.m. $9, $7 seniors, $6 ages 12 and under. Nassau Community College’s Mainstage Theatre, 1 Education Dr., Garden City. (516) 572-7676.
