School of Rock, a leader in performance-based music education, works with an ingenious concept that gets both children and adults to rock to the classics, and to perform on stage with their peers. Music programs are designed to create a supportive environment where students of all skill levels are comfortable yet challenged at every turn. In addition to individual private music instruction on guitar, bass, vocals, keyboards and/or drums, students also learn how to jam with their peers in weekly practice sessions. The dynamic team motivates students to excel. “The School of Rock brings out the confidence in the kids to rock both on stage and in life.”

Franchise owners Monica and Gene Rubin, who have just launched the Rockville Centre location, have been fans of School of Rock since their son, Michael, started taking lessons in 2009. After witnessing how much their son grew through the program, both musically and professionally, they were inspired to bring School of Rock to this community. Having grown up listening to rock, their passion was re-ignited each time Michael played that music.

“Seeing our son come out of his shell and really thrive at School of Rock has been such an inspiring, heartwarming experience. It opened our eyes to the authentic power its performance-based concept can have,” said Monica Rubin. “There aren’t very many programs that provide the opportunity for music lovers and aspiring musicians to simultaneously enhance their skills, collaborate and perform. The confidence it builds in students is unparalleled by anything I’ve ever seen. We’re thrilled to be taking our involvement to the next level, and to have the chance to impact people’s lives and personal growth in Rockville Centre.”

School of Rock’s numerous programs all emphasize that music is not only about playing an instrument. It’s about teamwork, building confidence, and creating leaders. Rock 101 teaches basic skills to beginners. For the very young, Rookies are first and second-grade rockers, and pre-scholars can partake in Little Wings.
