RVCPD to step up DWI enforcement over holiday

The Rockville Centre Police Department is enforcing driving while intoxicated violations more aggressively over the July 4 weekend. The police department is trying to make traveling on roadways in Nassau County safer.

The police will deploy additional marked and unmarked patrol vehicles as well as police officers who will provide routine traffic enforcements and extra watch for those who are operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

The department will be increased through additional funds from the Nassau County Traffic Safety “STOP DWI” program, a grant from the New York State DWI Coordinators Association, and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee.

The extra enforcement will run through the July 4 weekend. Along with the Rockville Centre Police Department, the Nassau County Police Department and several other village police agencies within Nassau County will be participating in the additional enforcement.
