Police search for village bank robber

A man robbed the Community National Bank located at 333 Merrick Rd., Rockville Centre, on Dec. 7.

The suspect entered the bank and asked to speak to the bank manager, the police said.  Upon entering the manager’s office, the man placed a brown folder on the desk, advising the manager of a robbery and demanding money. 

The man further indicated that the folder contained a ”device.” After obtaining an undetermined amount of cash, the man left the folder on the manager’s desk and fled the bank on foot heading westbound on Merrick Rd. The Arson/Bomb Squad responded and determined the folder was not a hazard. Four employees were present in the bank at the time of the robbery. There were no customers in the bank at the time. No injuries were reported.

The subject is described as a white man in his mid-to-late 50s, 5 foot, 9 inches to 6 feet tall, stocky and wearing a dark gray overcoat.

Arrests

A resident of N. Forest Avenue, Rockville Centre, was arrested on Nov. 26 and charged with driving while intoxicated after the investigation of an accident in the vicinity of Sunrise Highway and N. Village Avenue.

A resident of Lenox Road, Rockville Centre, was arrested on Nov. 29 and charged with criminal obstruction of breathing after an investigation at his residence.

A resident of Azalea Court, Long Beach, was arrested on Dec. 1 and charged with assault, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest after an investigation in the vicinity of S. Park Avenue.

A resident of Bedell Street, Baldwin, was arrested on Dec. 2 and charged with driving while intoxicated and Vehicle and Traffic Law violations after an investigation at the intersection of Merrick Road and Morris Avenue.

A resident of Chestnut Street, Massapequa, was arrested on Dec. 3 and charged with criminal possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of marijuana after an investigation at the Rockville Centre Long Island Rail Road station. Another resident of Green Avenue, Freeport was arrested on the same charges as a result of the same investigation.

Burglaries

An employee of the Sandel Senior Center, located at 50 S. Park Ave., Rockville Centre, reported on Nov. 26 that someone damaged two windows and a shed door while attempting to gain entry to the main building. The same person apparently entered and remained within the shed without authorization.

A resident of Dartmouth Street, Rockville Centre, reported on Nov. 28 that someone damaged a side window and stole $5,600 in assorted electronic equipment.

Assault

A resident of Trinity Place, Hewlett, reported on Dec. 1 that he was assaulted by an unknown man while at 7-11, 324 Merrick Road, Rockville Centre.

A resident of Linwood Avenue, Lindenhurst reported on Dec. 2 that he was assaulted by an unknown man while at Micelli’s Pizza, 19 N. Park Ave., Rockville Centre.

Larcenies

A resident of Harvard Avenue reported on Nov. 29 that her iPad was stolen from her vehicle while it was parked in her driveway overnight.

A student of Molloy College reported on Nov. 29 that her iPhone was stolen from a lounge.

An employee of CVS, located at 598 Merrick Road, reported on Nov. 30 that someone stole property and fled the scene.

A resident of DeMott Avenue, Rockville Centre, reported on Nov. 30 that someone stole his iPhone, valued at $200, while at the Recreation Center.

A resident of Sherman Avenue, Rockville Centre, reported on Nov. 30 that someone stole $10 from his unattended coat while at the Recreation Center.

A resident of Randall Avenue, Lynbrook, reported on Dec. 2 that someone stole his Echo chainsaw, valued at $700, while at U-Haul, located at 230 Maple Avenue, Rockville Centre.

A resident of Dover Street, Valley Stream, reported on Dec. 5 that someone stole $150 from a locker at Dolphin Fitness Center, located at 279 Sunrise Highway, Rockville Centre.

Unusual Incidents

A resident of Cleveland Avenue, Rockville Centre, reported on Dec. 2 that someone took a loan valued at $2,510 using the resident’s personal information without authorization.

A resident of Dorset Lane reported on Dec. 3 that someone made unauthorized purchases from his TD Bank account without authorization.

Property damaged

A resident of N. Park Avenue, Rockville Centre, reported on Nov. 26 that a glass door to South Nassau Dental Arts was damaged.

A resident of Ozone Park reported on Nov. 30 that his vehicle was damaged while it was parked in the lot at King Kullen, 127 Sunrise Highway, Rockville Centre. A resident of Rowehl Drive, East Meadow, also reported on Nov. 30 that her Nissan was damaged while parked in the lot at King Kullen.

Property lost

A mechanic at a service station on Sunrise Highway reported on Dec. 4 that a NYS inspection certificate was missing.

A resident of Oakdale Road, Rockville Centre, reported on Dec. 4 that she lost a diamond stud earring, valued at $5,000, somewhere in the village.

Graffiti

Graffiti was observed on signs in the vicinity of DeMott Avenue and on a signal box at the intersection of Sunrise Highway and N. Forest Avenue.

Harassment

An employee of Mercy Medical Center reported on Nov. 27 that she was annoyed and alarmed as a result of a verbal confrontation that occurred with another employee.

A resident of Bulson Road, Rockville Centre, reported on Nov. 28 that a former friend called her residence, causing annoyance and alarm.

A resident of Meehan Lane, Rockville Centre, reported on Nov. 28 that someone verbally harassed her, causing annoyance and alarm.

Two residents of Southhold reported on Nov. 30 that they were harassed by two acquaintances while outside Vibe Lounge, located at 60 N. Park Avenue, Rockville Centre.

Village Code Violations

Christian Crescitelli, 28, of Merrick, was issued an appearance ticket on Nov. 16 charging him with disturbing the peace.

Frankie DeAngelis, 25, of Oceanside, was issued an appearance ticket on Nov. 18 charging him with urinating in public.

Ronald Fanelli, 23, of Wantagh, was issued an apperance ticket on Nov. 21 charging him with an open container violation.
