At the monthly Fire Council meeting on Dec. 1, the Rockville Centre Fire Department recognized four of its members for their life-saving efforts.

Chief John Busching awarded Kevin Edell, Thomas Barbieri, Donna Hitscherich and Lt. Jeff Halstead “Pre-Hospital Save” bars for actions at a house fire in July.

The four department members responded to the house fire and found a resident of the residence in cardiac arrest. Through their efforts, the emergency medical technicians were able to start the individual’s heart to a life-sustaining rhythm,  bringing her back to life,  on the way to the hospital . All four of the department members have completed advanced emergency medical technician training.
