Christmas performance South Side High School band alumni will gather at the Rockville Centre LIRR train station for their annual meeting to play Christmas music for charity. The alumni are provided a Salvation Army bucket and play the morning of Christmas Eve between 9-10 a.m., in front of the bakery. Library blood drive The Rockville Centre Library will hold a blood drive between 2-8 p.m. No appointment is necessary. Mercy to offer Diabetes-management programs Mercy will offer winter sessions of Diabetes Self-Management Training programs. The four-session programs will be conducted in January on Tuesday afternoons from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. and in February on Tuesday evenings from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The program is most often covered by medicare, medicaid and private insurance. Winter Wishes Blood Drive Mercy invites and encourages residents to participate in its Winter Wishes Blood Driver to support Long Island Blood Services on Wednesday, Jan. 9 between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. All donors will receive a fleece scarf and gloves, compliments of the New York Blood Center, to keep or re-gift to a charitable organization of their choice. Anyone between the age of 17 and 75, in good health and weighs at least 110 pounds can donate blood. Healthy individuals older than 75 can donate blood if they present written permission from their physician obtained within two weeks of their donation. Donors should eat beforehand and bring reading glasses and ID with signature and know their social security number.
