Kathy Burns is presently enrolled in the Fine Arts graduate program at the online Academy of Art University, with plans to graduate in the spring of 2013. Her undergraduate degree in Fine Arts was earned at Molloy College. Ms. Burns’ paintings and drawings have been shown at the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, New York City, the Chicago Pastel Painters society in Chicago, Illinois, the pastel Society of New Hampshire in Portsmouth, the Northeast National Pastel Exhibition in North Carolina, and at numerous Art League of Long Island and Nassau County exhibitions.

Kathy is also a member of various art organizations including the National Portrait Society, and the Art League of Long Island and Nassau County. Her work has received numerous awards including those from the Seventh National Learning Congress Art Contest, the Oyster Bay Arts Festival, the Annual Art League of Long Island Art Exhibition and the Art League of Nassau County. In addition to her own work, she has inspired innumerable young people to explore and pursue art in her role as an art teacher.

Kathy has been married to her husband Brian Burns for 28 years and they have five wonderful children. On November 21, 2010 Kathy Burns became the recipient of a multi-visceral organ transplant during which she received four new organs. Over the past 6 ½ years she has waged an extensive battle of major medical issues requiring 31 surgeries. Following her transplant Kathy’s team of doctors informed her it would be difficult and extremely unlikely that she could return to drawing and painting.

They were wrong! Please enjoy the art of Kathy Burns.
