The artistic efforts of members of the National League of American Pen Women will be displayed in our Lower Galleries throughout the month of November. Artists have used a variety of materials, styles and media. The National League of American Pen Women is an organization of professional women artists, writers, composers, photographers and lecturers. National headquarters is in the League owned Pen-Arts Building in Washington D.C. There are more than 6000 members divided among the 220 branches throughout the United States, with 40 members belonging to the Long Island Branch. NLAPW’s purposes and objectives are to conduct and promote literacy, to provide educational and charitable activities in the fields of Arts, Letters and Music, and to encourage the production of creative work in these fields. Operation Christmas Child
The Rec Center is collecting school supplies, toiletries and small games for distribution to needy children. Bring your donations, in their original packaging, Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. by early November.

Any RVC senior 60 years or older is encouraged to find out about the programs and services offered. The Senior Center has joined Facebook. By becoming a friend of “Rockville Sandel” you can access the latest center information.
Open Gym Program
The main gymnasium of the Rec Center will be open for free play basketball for grades 4 and up on Saturday afternoons from 2 to 4:30 p.m. beginning Oct. 29. The evening open gym for grades 6 and up will begin Oct. 5 and Oct. 6 from 7:30 to 10:15 p.m. Admission is by valid 2012-2013 Recreation Card.
