Bowling for Breasts
Maple Pointe is sponsoring a breast cancer fundraiser at Rockville Centre Lanes, 100 Maple Ave. on Oct. 24 from 1-4 p.m. for teams of five or more. The entrance fee of $500/$100 per person can be raised through sponsorship or private fundraising. Personalized team t-shirts and trophy for championship team. Hispanic Brotherhood/Do Good Shopping Event
The Hispanic Brotherhood is involved with Lord & Taylor's Do Good Shopping Event to raise funds and to save shoppers money. The tickets cost $5 each and with that comes a variety of coupons to be used at the Garden City store location on Oct. 30. Included in the coupons are two 25 percent off coupons and a 15 percent off coupon (included in that is cosmetics and fragrances). Additionally, a Lord & Taylor credit card is used, shoppers get an extra 10 percent off. There also are prizes given out throughout the store.
Domestic Violence Awareness
The Nassau County Family Violence Task Force and Nassau County Coalition Against Domestic Violence invite the community to the Domestic Violence Awareness Ceremony on Friday, Oct. 19 at 11 a.m. The event is held in honor and remembrance of domestic violence victims. The ceremony will take place at the Theodore Roosevelt Legislative and Executive Building Ceremonial Chamber, 1550 Franklin Ave., Mineola.
