Sunday Night Club at United Church of Rockville Centre

Veronica Schliemann, a local artist, will be the guest speaker at the Oct. 7 Sunday Night Club meeting at the United Church of Rockville Centre, 430 Morris Ave. Schliemann paints, works in clay and also "paints" in paper. Her works have been shown throughout Long Island in juried art shows where she has received much acclaim and many awards. Painting in paper is often classified as collage, but Schliemann feels that her brush strokes are similar to those of oils as she layers her paintings with paper just as a more traditional artist uses paints. Some of her works are traditional while others are more abstract. She will show examples of both as she explains how she uses paper to create her works of art. The program begins at 7 p.m. and is open to the community at no charge. Call (516) 766-4540 with any questions.
